A Journey to Redefining Healthcare for Women of Color: How it Started…
When I started My Lady Business, it wasn’t just about opening a clinic. I did not have dreams of entrepreneurship, making a name for myself or even making money. I have been in healthcare for over 20 years doing what I love and I was not looking for an out or to “be my own boss.” It was about rewriting a narrative, one that so many women, especially women of color, have carried silently for years.
Like many of my patients, I know what it feels like to search for answers about your own body and leave the doctor’s office feeling deflated. Sis, I am the same age and in the same boat as the women I treat, so I am in it with you! I’ve been there, navigating my own health, balancing family and career, and even going through the emotional journey of weight loss and body changes that come with each passing year. Those experiences opened my eyes to the gaps in healthcare, especially when it comes to women’s hormones, unexplained weight gain, and overall wellness.
I realized something; We deserve more. We deserve providers who listen and understand our unique bodies, our cultures, and our stories. We deserve care that doesn’t just hand us a prescription, but partners with us to find real solutions. Then I realized I am WE and I am SHE. I decided to show up for US. That’s where My Lady Business was born: out of love!
Every appointment, every program, every service at My Lady Business is built on one promise: to see you, hear you, and care for you, fully. This is a place where conversations about hormones, menopause, sexual health, weight management, and even self-confidence aren’t taboo but are central to our care. Even the choice to make the clinic telehealth was done to make My Lady Business more accessible to busy moms, corporate women, multi-tasking, “sandwich” generation, tight schedule having Queens. We literally meet you where you are.
This is just one part of the story. We know there are many layers to bringing meaningful change but the real story will be written by every woman who chooses to take control of her health and finds her voice, her strength, and her balance with My Lady Business by her side
This is more than healthcare.
This is a movement.
This is My Lady Business.
