Support Changes Everything: Why Women Need Support During Hormonal and Weight Loss Changes

“To love each other is to protect each other. To protect each other is to heal what tried to break us.”

Sending our love to all the men/father’s this month and the men who support us on this journey.

There is nothing worse than feeling “off” and trying to make someone else understand how you feel. You are already trying to listen to your body but then you are tasked with convincing others you really are this tired, you feel that emotional and no you don’t have any interest sex… and it has nothing to do with them.

Hormonal changes during perimenopause and midlife affect metabolism, energy, mood, weight and your relationships.  These changes are not about lack of love or discipline. Communication is key but what are we telling our loved ones? We must educate the entire village. Women deserve understanding not judgment or “help” that’s not so helpful like buying you a treadmill you didn’t ask for as a birthday gift.

This is why supportive partners play such an important role. Encouragement, patience, and understanding can help women feel seen, valued, and empowered to take care of their health.

Many women silently struggle with changes in their bodies during their late 30s and 40s. What makes the greatest difference during this time is support. Support from partners. Support from family.  Support from your job but first you need support from healthcare providers who understand what women’s bodies are going through. That’s where I come in!

It’s June and just as Juneteenth represents liberation and progress, many women are seeking freedom from metabolic challenges that could lead to other health concerns. As we say at My lady Business. “Own your health. Find your Balance.”
